The crystal clear waters are the wild landscape, they compose a "backdrop" ideally made! Some beaches of Karpathos have been awarded the honorary blue flag, due to their safety, organization and cleanliness.
Most beaches are easily accessible, either by the asphalt road network, or by excursion boats from the city of Karpathos.
Some of the most famous beaches of Karpathos are:
Lefkos
It is located in the northwest of the island, 30km from the capital. It is a pole of attraction for many visitors due to the beautiful sandy beach and the crystal clear sea. There are many accommodations near the beach as well as taverns with very good fish. Opposite Lefkos is the small island of Sokastro.
Kira Panagia
It is located 10 km northwest of the capital. It is one of the most famous beaches of the island and very well organized. The sea is crystal clear but deep and the sandy beach is golden. The landscape around is fantastic! There are few hotels and taverns.
Apella
Apella is one of the best beaches on the island. This is a beach with golden sand, crystal clear waters, ideal to enjoy your swim. There are a few sunbeds and at the northern end of a small tavern.
Diafani
It is located on the northwest coast of the island, 70km from the capital. The beach at Diafani is pebbly with transparent waters and is located right in front of the homonymous seaside village. You can reach Pigadia by road or by boat, which will leave you at the small pier. There are accommodations and beach taverns where you will eat fresh fish.
Achata
It is located about 10km northwest of Karpathos. Agata is a pebble beach that at the beginning is wide and as it progresses it narrows until it reaches the sea. Its waters deepen sharply, which is why it needs attention in swimming. A few meters from the beach there is a canteen.
Pigadia
It is a busy beach as it is located in the capital of the island. It stretches for many kilometers and has nice fine sand and crystal clear waters. The beach is organized and the capital offers you all the amenities for your stay and fun.
Amoopi
Amoopi is 6km away from Pigadia. This is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, well organized with the possibility of water sports. In Amoopi operate some of the most luxurious hotels, many rooms for rent and taverns.
Agios Nikolaos (Spoa)
It is located 16km from the capital of the island. It is a beautiful sandy beach but exposed to the winds. Ideal for surfing since it always has big waves. In the homonymous village you will find hotels and rooms for rent. There are also taverns and bars.
Agios Minas
The beach of Agios Minas is one of the most beautiful small pebble beaches of Karpathos with crystal clear waters. It is located near Apella.
